The National Association of Interprofessional Milk Federation in Niger (ANFILAIT) leads initiatives to promote milk in Niger and join forces with other associations and NGOs to celebrate World Milk Day.
The celebration will take place in Niamey, Niger, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Mahatma Gandhi International Conference Center. The day calls for an inclusive and participatory approach from all stakeholders in the Niger milk sector.
To achieve this, a small organizing committee comprising members of ANFILAIT and key players in the milk sector has been established. The main missions of this committee are to prepare and organize the festivities for World Milk Day (WMD 2024). These include:
- Identifying key advocacy messages, necessary resource persons, and developing an agenda for the celebration.
- Implementing a communication strategy to effectively campaign for World Milk Day.
- Providing exhibition stands for tasting and selling dairy products.
- Producing and distributing an infomercial on local milk in Niger through media and social networks.
- Hosting a conference-debate on the theme: “Milk, a Strategic Product for Achieving Food Sovereignty in Niger.”
The event will be followed by an information and awareness caravan to spread educational messages to the public on the role of local dairy products in nutrition. The committee will identify key advocacy messages, necessary resource persons, and develop an agenda for the celebration.
Local milk advocacy kits consisting of dairy product tasting products will be prepared and given to host visitors and partners.

The Consumer Education Project of Milk SA will run an online media awareness campaigns nationwide in South Africa for the month of June.
During the planned social media campaign for SA youth (15-25), we encourage our followers to share the goodness of dairy with friends family and loved ones no matter the occasion. The campaign runs across our @DairyGivesYouGo social media channels and will make use of several youth influencers to showcase how the #EnjoyDAIRY and #ShareDAIRY with their loved ones. The campaign has a goal to reach 5 million!

In 2009, J-milk designated June 1 as "Milk Day" in Japan, in line with the intent of the FAO, which advocated "World Milk Day," and also designated the month of June as "Milk Month" in which entire people in Japan’s dairy sector collaborate to communicate the value of milk. World milk day 2024, will be celebrated under the theme Moving towards a healthy tomorrow: Ensuring the nutritional benefit of milk for our overall wellbeing.
Dairy nutrition is currently being challenged in Ghana by the proliferation of very cheap, and low quality Non-dairy products that the public is erroneously considering as milk. World milk 2024 in Ghana will be used to amplify the benefits of Milk and its importance as a nutrient dense food for all families.
Our school's activation will reach 25k children in public schools where kids will be engaged in fun activities to drive experience and create lasting memories for them while they are educated on the importance of milk and each child will be given a pack of milk.
Hospital activation will engage mothers of children between the ages of 3 to 12yrs where they will be educated on the nutritional benefits of milk and how it can enhance the healing process of their kids. They will be given goodie bags of milk and milk products for their homes. A total of 300 mothers are targeted in 2 hospitals in Accra the capital city of Ghana.

Our focus is to boost the celebration of World Milk Day with several activities. We are organizing a seminar with Universidad de Los Lagos, speaking about the positive effects of dairy public programs on the Chilean population, while also commemorating 50 years of Purita Milk. Additionally, we will have a webinar organized with Fepale to share the benefits of public policies related to dairy consumption.
Throughout the campaign, we’ll participate in dairy celebrations and support our partners with content and communications. We are coordinating with dairy farmers, the dairy industry, universities, research centers, related companies, and government agencies to enhance World Milk Day activities, including communication efforts with the media and social media.
